**postponed until July 2nd!** If you already RSVPed, there is no need to re-RSVP :)
Hi UAW 4121 members -- we made it through the academic year! June 2021 is also the 20 year anniversary of our recognition strike.
To celebrate and socialize, we are holding a COVID-conscious outdoor social on FRIDAY, July 2nd from 6-8pm at Cowen Park. Everyone will be welcome to join at any time for light snacks, a few pumps of hand sanitizer, getting to know union members across departments, and learning a little bit more about our history of a union while we celebrate the end of the academic year.
We will send updates/reminders to all who RSVP and will notify everyone of the location as soon as possible.

We’ll be at Cowen Park and are hoping to claim a shady spot in the northwest corner of the park (near Brooklyn and 62nd St). We’ll have at least one canopy set up, and everyone is encouraged to wear their blue UAW 4121 shirt so we are easy to find. If you don’t have a shirt yet, you can grab one!
What to bring
Kids (there’s a playground area!), dogs, partners, and other union members in your department
Blankets or chairs to sit on
There will be shady options in the park and we will have at least one canopy, but please bring whatever you might need to stay cool and safe (cold drinks, bandana to dip in water, etc)
Snacks and beverages—we’ll have some individually wrapped snacks, cupcakes, and beverages, but feel free to bring your own as well
COVID Safety Guidelines
While the majority of individuals in King County are fully vaccinated, holding a COVID-conscious event remains a top priority. We are currently anticipating between 20-40 members will attend this fully outdoor event. We are committed to doing everything in our power to ensure union members who have children, are immunocompromised, and/or live in intergenerational households (and others) feel as safe and comfortable at this event as possible.
If you tested positive for COVID or have had a known COVID exposure in the past 2 weeks (whether or not you’ve been vaccinated), please do not attend this event in person -- we hope to see you in the fall!
Fully vaccinated (i.e., 2+ weeks after final dose) members are welcome to choose whether to attend the event with or without a mask.
We recognize that there are many reasons why individuals may not be able to have been vaccinated yet. If you are not yet fully vaccinated, please wear a mask--you are welcome to discuss comfortability around going maskless with the small groups you mingle with at the event.
If any masked member asks another unmasked member they are sharing space with to mask-up, we ask that attendees respect that request.
We encourage all members to maintain a distance of 3+ feet from one another, or 6 feet if in groups of multiple unvaccinated members.
All food and drinks provided by UAW 4121 will be individually sized (i.e., pre-packaged individually sized bags of chips, cupcakes, 8-16oz bottled/canned beverages). Members are also able to bring their own snacks!
We will have hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, and extra disposable masks available, as well as details on the nearest restroom.
Please let us know if you have any concerns or questions.
