2019 Montavilla Farmers Market -- Application for Community Information Tabling
MISSION:
The mission of the Montavilla Farmers Market is to provide a vibrant marketplace where our diverse community has access to high quality, local, healthy food. We create opportunities for our vendors and customers to support and learn from each other, which strengthens our local economy.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES:
The Montavilla Farmers Market values the following principles for our vendors, volunteers, board, and staff:
• Respect, dignity, and equity
• Nourishment, wellness, and health
• Sustainability
• Creativity, innovation, and an entrepreneurial spirit
• Professionalism
• Celebration, gratitude, and recognition
• Volunteerism and partnerships
• Fairness and affordability

WHO CAN SIGN UP TO TABLE:
As part of Montavilla Farmers Market's (MFM) mission to inspire and nurture a healthy community, we are happy to offer non-profit organizations and community groups space to share information regarding community related services and activities that are in alignment with the mission and guiding principles of MFM. We give priority to agriculture, healthy food, cooking, environment, wellness, and Montavilla based neighborhood organizations.

LOCATION:
7700 SE Stark Street, Portland, OR 97215

TIME:
Every Sunday May through October. Winter markets are the 4th Sunday of the month November through February. All markets are open from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

TABLING COST AND PARTNERSHIP:
There is no cost for tabling at any market day. However, because we view our relationship with visiting community groups as a partnership, we expect each group to promote the market within their own communities and social networks. Highlighting Montavilla Farmers Market on your website, newsletters, or social media sites, and inviting your supporters to visit the market contributes to everyone’s success.

Participants are encouraged to create engaging tables that enhance the market experience for shoppers. A group that educates the public about gardening could also host a seed-planting activity for kids at their table, for example. For more ideas, see SE Uplift’s article on tabling activities and collateral: http://www.seuplift.org/?library=tabling-activities-and-collateral.

SPONSORSHIP:
Community information tabling is a different program than our tabling that comes as part of a sponsorship package. For more details on sponsorship tabling, please visit www.montavillamarket.org/support/our-sponsors.

Rules and Market Day Logistics
RULES OF THE DAY:
-- Tabling at the market is an opportunity to make connections with the Montavilla community and to give and receive information. You may not sell any products (leave this to the vendors please!), or conduct any fundraising, this includes donation jars.

-- Please allow market-goers to come to you, rather than walking through the market soliciting. Having a dynamic and engaging display and/or activity is a great strategy to draw visits and meet more people!

-- Give-aways or handouts are permitted, but must be approved by the Market Manager. Products handed out can't compete with the products available for sale at the market by vendors.

WHERE TO BE AND WHEN:
-- The market begins at 10:00 am and ends at 2:00 pm. MFM operates rain or shine and requires that your booth be staffed for the entirety of the market.

-- Arrival and set-up will be available promptly at 9:30 am. When you arrive, please check in at the info tent. A MFM volunteer or staff will greet you and orient you to your exact location assigned by the Market Manager.

SUPPLIES TO BRING:
-- Please provide your own tables, chairs, umbrellas or tents. (MFM may be able to lend a tent, table, and chairs depending on Market activities and priorities, but there is no guarantee.)

-- All tents need to be weighed down on each leg with weights that are at least 20 lbs each. MFM has weights available for you to borrow if you don't have your own.

-- Thank you for keeping your booth attractive during market hours and for breaking down your space after the market closes, including removal of garbage and sweeping up any debris.

MARKET CULTURE:
-- The market respects all aspects of people including their ethnicity, sex, gender expression, sexual-orientation, socio-economic background, religion, political affiliation, nationality, size, age, and ability. Physical or verbal abuse, sexual or any other forms of harassment, theft or damage of property, is simply not tolerated. The market retains the right to regulate the time, place, and manner of activities relating to displays, signs, posters, placards and other expressions of the interests represented. If any persons or groups tabling are found to violate market policy, disciplinary action will follow, including the potential for the offending person or group to be barred from tabling at the market.

-- The MFM Board of Directors has authorized market staff to enforce the above rules. MFM cannot endorse the opinions or positions of any group or individual.
