Camp Waldo is a three-week overnight summer camp focused on arts, sciences, and adventure. Camp Waldo is hosted by Appalachian Headwaters, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving forests, water and communities in central Appalachia. We are located on the Greenbrier River near Hinton, WV.

Being a camp counselor is fun and rewarding, but at times can be hard work. Some of a counselor's job responsibilities can include: Long hours during which you are on duty, with limited breaks; managing difficult camper behavior; being asked to handle duties not normally asked of you, sometimes at the last minute; teaching an activity and/or supervising campers during inclement weather (rain, heat, etc.); being required to go long periods without access to electronics (mobile phones, etc.); maintaining a positive, kind attitude even during difficult circumstances; and others. Are you interested in an internship after camp with Appalachian Headwaters (appheadwaters.org)? We have programs in beekeeping, native plant horticulture, and economic development. We also partner with local organizations that provide additional internship opportunities. Internships will take place in the month of July and are offered separately from counselorships, based on skills required and spots available at host sites. *
