Audition for these 2 positions:

1. CMC's Claire Bataille Legacy Scholarship includes the opportunity to train in ballet, modern, contemporary, and more with Chicago’s best dance instructors. Award includes 8+ classes per week, coaching, spring performance, and more. Classes available Monday thru Friday, 10:00am to 1:15pm. Claire Bataille Legacy Scholarship recipients can start as early as August 11, 2025.

2. WH&D's 3rd Coast Contemporary Dance program is a partnership between WH&D and CMC that offers affordable training and professional performance opportunities to dancers ages 17 to 26. Classes and rehearsals are M,W, F from 10:00am to 1:30pm, and include classes in Modern, Contemporary, Ballet, Hip Hop, Circus acrobatics, and more. Dancers take class, rehearse, and perform with Winifred Haun & Dancers. The 3rd Coast program begins in September 12, 2025.

Ways to Audition:
1. Audition by Video (see details below) Deadline Extended to August 11.

2. Take a Company Class:
Send an email to winifredhaundance@gmail.com requesting an In-person Audition by Company class. Company classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10:00am to 11:30am. Please Audition by Company Class by (or before) August 11, if possible. 

Dancers of all colors, genders, and ages are encouraged to audition.

How to Apply by Video

Upload a link to a video reel in the answer box below Or create a 1-2 minute recording of yourself improvising, with or without music. Submit by August 11, 2025. 


To submit an improv video:
Feel free to improvise whatever dance form(s) you feel is your best. Hip hop, contemporary, jazz, tap, ballet, modern, Spanish dance, Classical Indian, West African, and many more forms are all completely acceptable. You can combine dance forms in the video, too.

Record your video on your cell phone (or ipad or camera or other device). Feel free to record in whatever space you have available: dance studio, living room, backyard, park, alley, etc. No editing required. (We're not looking for your cinematic or editing skills; we just want to see you dance.)

Pro tips:
1. In your reel, put your best work at the *beginning* of the video.
2. In your improvised work, include your best moves. If you can do gymnastic tricks include those somewhere.

After you complete your video, upload it to YouTube, Vimeo, Google, DropBox, wherever, and put the link in the answer box below.
