Bergen Spay & Neuter Alliance is a 501c3 non profit that relies on volunteers, like yourself, to help make each clinic a success for the animals and their families. We have a variety of areas that our volunteers can assist from loading/unloading to surgical packs and even pet recovery! Thank you for reaching out about participating with our volunteer needs. On clinic days we are usually at the venue from 6:30/7am to about 5/6pm. We can break our needs into shifts, or you can volunteer for the entire day, or the entire clinic! Are there any days/times that work best for you? *

Do you have any specific skills or areas that you wish to help in? Please note that some of our volunteer positions do have a lifting requirement as they are more labor intensive, but are vital to us and desparately needed! *

SET-UP - HEAVY LIFTER: I can lift 50+ lbs. on Wednesday, the day before the clinic (about 12:30 pm) to help unload "Wendel" our surgical unit, set up workstations, get kennels ready for guests, etc.

SET-UP - MEDIUM LIFTER: I can lift 30 - 40lbs. on Wednesday, the day before the clinic (about 12:30 pm) to help unload "Wendel" our surgical unit, set up workstations, get kennels ready for guests, etc.

SET-UP - REGULAR: I can help on Wednesday, the day before the clinic (about 12:30 pm) to help unload "Wendel" our surgical unit, set up workstations, get kennels ready for guests, etc.

TEAR DOWN-HEAVY LIFTER: I can lift 50+ lbs. at approx. 3pm. on Sunday (the last clinic day) to help us tear down work stations and kennels, help clean equipment and spaces used, load everything into our surgical unit, etc. Time flexibility is needed as we could be done a little earlier, or later, depending on our number of pets.

SURGICAL PACKS: I can help clean and sterilize used instruments and make surgical packs.

RUNNER - HEAVY LIFTER - THURSDAY and/or FRIDAY: I can lift 50+ lbs. to help take pets from kennels to and from the surgical unit. Helping carry larger animals from prep table to surgery table, etc. This will require you to lift heavy pets, work in close proximity with the vet team and in an enclosed area.

RUNNER - MEDIUM LIFTER - THURSDAY and/or FRIDAY: I can lift 40+ lbs. to help take pets from kennels to and from the surgical unit. Helping carry larger animals from prep table to surgery table, etc. This will require you to lift heavy pets, work in close proximity with the vet team and in an enclosed area.

RUNNER - REG LIFTER: I can lift up to 30 lbs. to help take pets from kennels to and from the surgical unit. Helping carry larger animals from prep table to surgery table, etc. This will require you to lift heavy pets, work in close proximity with the vet team and in an enclosed area.

CHECK IN/OUT: I can work closely with animals and their owners, help organize check-in flow, get weights on animals, place ID collars on pets, take pets from check-in area to kennel area and place in kennels, make phone calls to pet owners, set-up go home videos, helping owners retrieve pets and load pets, "poop scoop" and clean kennels, etc.

RECOVERY - HEAVY LIFTER on THURS. and/or FRIDAY (Vet Tech experience a +, but not required): I can lift 50+ lbs. and can help as an assistant to the recovery team, or to help with the vet team in the surgical unit, and possibly with the feral cat team.

RECOVERY - MEDIUM LIFTER THURS. and/or FRIDAY (Vet Tech experience a +, but not required): I can lift approx. 40lbs. and can help as an assistant to the recovery team, or to help with the vet team in the surgical unit, and possibly with the feral cat team.

RECOVERY - REGULAR LIFTER (Vet Tech experience a +, but not required): I can lift up to 30 lbs. and can help as an assistant to the recovery team, or to help with the vet team in the surgical unit, and possibly with the feral cat team.

Laundry: 1-2 people to pick-up and take home towels, sheets, surgical drapes and wraps, etc. to be laundered and returned. This can be a full time job at our clinics, but is great for someone that works from home or that isn't able to work at the clinic in person.

Photographer: Who doesn't want to see pictures of cute doggies and kitty's? This is a great way to interact with the pets and their people! We try and get a photo of every pet that comes in for clinic services.

We can always utilize other in-kind services/donations such as laundry service, pet grooming, lunch, advertising, social media/photography assistance, cleaning/office supplies, etc.
