Since 1994, Fair Budget has been one of the largest and long-serving coalitions fighting, rallying and advocating for a racially equitable Washington D.C. For 30 years, FBC has brought together community members directly impacted by economic oppression and poverty, political exclusion, and systems of racism, as well as human service and legal services providers, advocates, faith organizations, and concerned District residents. Together, we advocate for a fair budget and fair budget policies in DC.
The Constituent Leadership Program (CLP) is a 9-month program centering the voices, power and wisdom of DC residents who are impacted by racial inequity, economic oppression (systemic poverty), and systemic racism.
Fair Budget Coalition will host a bi-weekly space where CLP members will gain a greater understanding of the local budget process, gain and share advocacy and organizing skills, and become involved in long term leadership in the Fair Budget Coalition.
Constituent Leaders are DC residents who live in the District, who are impacted by the budget decisions that affect our communities on a daily basis from lack of food and housing access, to involvement with the criminal legal system, and more. We are looking for applicants who are invested in the success of DC and their communities, and who are (or hope to be) leading their communities towards change. Black, brown, and folks bearing historically marginalized identities are encouraged to apply!
Please note that this application has multiple sections, and be prepared to give yourself ample time to answer thoughtfully. Google forms will NOT save your progress if you walk away or reload, so if you plan to work on your responses in segments we recommend writing your answers in a document, and then copying and pasting here.
