Participation
We would love to have you sign up for the whole season, April through November, but we understand if you can't make that commitment! We have added several other options this year (Half session, Quarter Session and a Tryout Session) so you can still get fresh food during the season! Don't forget that you are welcome to start anytime (even in the middle of a month) and that you are able to start out with a shorter commitment and then decide to continue on after your session is finished!

All you need to do to reserve your spot is pick your sessions, payment preferences, and submit your $30 membership fee.
The membership fee commitment helps us to plan our crop rotations, buy seed, and cover the cost of the CSA Members Only Events during the season.

FAQs
Q: How much does it cost?

A: There is a membership fee of $30 to reserve your spot for the season. That commitment helps us to plan our planting rotations, buy seeds, and cover the cost of our CSA members only events for the season. Each box costs $25/per week (or less if you use our upfront payment discounts!). The Tryout Session box averages to $30/per week. Overall, we tend to give out about 15- 20% more food than this money would buy at a market like Earthfare or Publix when averaged out over the year!

Q: How much food do I get in my box?

A: Each box offers 5 to 8 different items, usually with herbs and bread. The food in the box is whatever is at the peak of harvest during that week and that season. Some boxes might be fairly light weight and full of hearty greens while other boxes will be quite heavy from pounds of tomatoes, fruit, or winter squash. We also try to include some ready to eat items to make sure that that value is there in every box. Every week is different with some weeks having a tremendous harvest and other weeks a more slender harvest. Some people complain of too much food while others finish off the box by the weekend and buy even more from us at Farmers' Markets. Everyone’s eating habits and cooking styles are different, but we assure you: you will eat a lot more veggies when you join our CSA - and your body will thank you for it!

Q: Are you certified organic?

A: We are not certified organic. Organic farming allows for the use of toxic organic pesticides, organic herbicides, and organic fungicides. While they generally don’t cause harm to us humans, these organic sprays are very detrimental to pollinators, especially bees, as well as to the entire community of beneficial insects in an ecosystem. Organic pesticides still kill indiscriminately, just like conventional pesticides! We practice what is often termed “Beyond Organic,” or "Organic 2.0." Organic farming also still encourages the use of plowing, discs and other tillage equipment which has proven to be highly detrimental to soil health and soil biology, and increases greenhouse gas emissions. While we support the organic movement - it is far better than the conventional alternative - we also believe that the organic movement needs to adopt even better management practices. At Trosly Farm, we meet or exceed all organic standards, but we also strive to create a healthy, vibrant, natural ecosystem that is strong, bio-diverse, and resilient... and that also happens to produce food for us humans! For more information on organic farming and our farming practices, join us for one of our fun, inspirational and informative Farm Tours or events that we have planned for this season!

Q: Do you provide recipes?

A: We love providing recipes on our website. We also love to hear from our members what they have been cooking up and are hoping to have a members forum where you all can share with each other!

Q: What do I do if I’m on vacation?

A: Since our food keeps growing regardless of the lives of us humans, your box will still be prepared for you. You may choose to have a friend or neighbor pick up your box while you are gone - in this case please let us know who it is and what date(s) they will be claiming your box. Otherwise, we will donate your food to a local Food Bank or to our farm crew.

Q: What happens if I forget to pick my box up?

A: At most pick-up sites and at the farm, we are working hard to make sure that you have a large window of time to pick up your box at your convenience. If you do pick your box up after several days, it is a good idea to let all your leafy greens soak in cold sink water for 20 minutes to an hour before washing, drying, and storing them. If you still forget to pick your box up by the end of the week, your food will either be donated to a local Food Bank, to our farm crew, or to our pigs.

Q: What if I forget to return my empty box?

A: This is a big one! Our boxes cost us upwards of $3 each, so please do try to remember to bring ALL of your boxes with you!

Q: How can I pay? Can I pay by credit card?

A: Currently, we accept cash, check or credit card. We prefer cash or check since we have to charge extra to cover the credit card processing fees (tax) if you choose to pay with a card.
To reserve your spot, we need your $30 membership fee. You can then choose to pay for your session right away or wait until your first pickup date.
By your first pickup date, we require an upfront payment in full or you can choose to pay in two installments. You can pay either of those options with cash, check or credit card. Check method for two installments: writing two checks and post dating one for later deposit.
You can also choose to pay by credit card and be charged monthly/weekly.
We will work with you individually on what payment options are best for your budget!!

Q: Can I visit the farm?

A: We are looking forward to having several CSA gatherings this year and getting to know everyone!

Q: Can I buy a gift membership for someone else?

A: Yes, you are more than welcome to do so. We will work with you to arrange all of the details for your “Gift Membership.”

Q: I am not planning on becoming a member of your farm. Can I still stop by your farm to buy some products?

A: This is typically very challenging for us as we are busy operating a farm. We schedule all of our harvesting so our products will be as fresh and possible, and have decided to close the farm store during the 2019 season.
However, we are always happy to do our best to make our products available to you. Please call well ahead to schedule a pick-up or to place an order. Thank you!

Q: Can I sign up for a trial box?

A: Yes, you may arrange for a 4 week , Tryout Session at a cost of $120.

Member Agreement and Responsibilities
As a CSA member, I agree to pick up my share at my chosen pick-up site during the time frame agreed upon. If I will be away or otherwise unable to pick up my share, I will make arrangements for someone else to pick it up for me. Any shares not claimed at the chosen pickup location will be donated. MEMBER SHARES THAT ARE NOT PICKED UP WILL NOT BE REFUNDED OR MADE UP.
Please contact Trosly Farm at least 24 hours in advance if you need to change your pickup location for any reason. If you are unable to pickup your food that week and you have given us at least 24 hour notice, we will be glad to donate your share. Thanks for understanding that this is our livelihood and we depend on our CSA members every week!

I agree to be an active participant in the CSA program and to contact my farmer if I have any questions or concerns. I will act in an appropriate manner when communicating with the farmers and other members of the CSA community. The farm reserves the right to cancel the membership of any member whose conduct is deemed inappropriate by the farmers. In such a case, the member will received a pro- rated refund for the remaining weeks of unclaimed produce.
