ContraCOVID, an initiative to keep immigrant communities in the US well informed, is looking for Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole speakers who can help us translate English content as we expand our services. More information on ContraCOVID can be found at www.contracovid.com
To ensure that we have a system in place that takes into account people's schedules, but also guarantees timely translation of documents, we wanted to create 3 main translation teams. The descriptions and expected time commitment are below. Please complete this google form if you are interested in joining our translating efforts now that the organization is expanding.
(Each translation team will have at least 3 leaders; one for each language - Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole. Each of these leaders would be responsible for coordinating translation in their respective languages.)***
Team 1: News - ContraCOVID posts summarized versions of important news affecting the immigrant community. Translations will need to be done weekly over the weekend (news will be finalized by Friday, and the goal is to post them by Monday). The news articles are usually short.
Team 2: Resource documents - this task is more involved since the documents are lengthier and require constant updating (the goal is to have them updated at least once per week, or as new information comes out). This team of translators should be bigger, and could have up to two leaders per language, instead of one. ***The resource documents often also need to be translated into other languages including Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Russian. So we need translators for those languages as well.
Team 3: Social media / graphics - we also need to translate any new content that goes on graphics/website. This translation team would also need to translate any scripts we have for new videos. The need would also be weekly.
