What is the WA Firearm Tragedy Prevention Network?
Seattle Children's, The Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Lock-It-Up and Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center came together to develop the Washington State Firearm Tragedy Prevention Network in 2016 to provide a forum for organizations, individuals, businesses and others from a wide range of perspectives and backgrounds to work together to prevent firearm tragedies. Meeting topics could include but are not limited to suicide prevention, violence prevention and response, injury prevention, safe firearm storage, community programming/tools/resources/education and research. Network meetings take place twice per year in various locations around Washington.

Network activities include the opportunity to bring people, organizations and resources together in a NON-POLITICAL way to learn, network, share information and resources and identify areas of opportunity to work together as it relates to firearm tragedy prevention.

- Share and report-out on what you/your organization is doing, including tools and resources
- Share research, evaluation and best practices
- Learn from each other
- Build partnerships
- Identify areas of opportunity to collaborate
- Educate children, youth, families and adults about preventing firearm tragedies

Who should attend Network meetings?
Anyone with an interest in keeping communities safe, educated and informed about firearm tragedy prevention. We encourage individuals, community organizations, businesses, government leaders, public health professionals, social services, law enforcement and first responders, educators, firearm advocates, parents, mental health and healthcare providers and community leaders to attend Network meetings.
