Do-it-Yourself Lowell and the City of Lowell are partnering on two projects in Centralville to encourage folks to get outside; walk, roll, or bike; and explore their neighborhood.
THE RIVER PATH project is funded by the Solomon Foundation's Streets for Recovery program and managed by DIY Lowell. We'll make small improvements to identify and brighten up the riverside path between Bridge Street and Aiken Street in 2020 and 2021. We're considering signage, art, plantings in the park, and more. We'll also focus on the path's entryways such as Blue Star Park on the corner of Bridge Street and the VFW Highway.
HEALTHY WALKING TRAILS is funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and managed by the City of Lowell. We'll be creating one or more trails in late 2020 or early 2021! These roughly one-mile trails will be on the sidewalks and existing walking paths in your neighborhood, marked by signs with directions. They will be in safe, well-lit areas. We want them to encourage everyone to take a healthy walk once a week or more.
We're getting community input on both projects! Please share this survey with anyone who lives, works, or visits Centralville.
