Scholarship Inquiry Form
Thank you for your interest in our scholarship program! Please find eligibility requirements below and confirm you meet these requirements before moving on to the next section.

*Note: please submit a separate inquiry form for each child looking to participate.

Scholarship Qualifications

Scholarships are for children under 18 who want to participate in a music program. Please note, a limit of TWO children per family will be granted funding at one time for up to two-6 month terms (full year).  Reapplying for additional funding will be granted after a 6-month break has taken place.

Financial aid is intended for students under 18 who cannot otherwise pay for monthly tuition for private lessons or group programs at Sunburst School of Music. The amount of assistance is based upon the total household income. The guidelines for financial assistance are as follows:

  • Annual Household Income of $35,000 or less may receive up to 100% of tuition
  • $35,000 to $45,000 may receive up to 75% of tuition
  • $45,000 to $55,000 may receive up to 50% of tuition
  • $55,000 to $65,000 may receive up to 25% of tuition
Scholarship Terms

The Sunburst Music Scholarship Fund is run with our 501c3 partner New Sun Rising. After completing this inquiry form, students will need to submit an application through New Sun Rising to be considered for scholarship funding. Please review the terms of the scholarship below:

  • Students are expected to meet with the school and fill out a contact form on the website before submitting this scholarship application. If accepted, students will attend a trial lesson before confirming weekly lessons.
  • Students must demonstrate commitment to learning to play their instrument and be a contributing member of the student body. They are expected to strictly adhere to the code of conduct for the school they attend.
  • Poor attendance, including excessive student cancellations, may result in termination of financial aid. Excessive cancellations are defined as 3 or more missed or canceled lessons that are not made up during a 6 month term (see Sunburst Terms and Conditions for full attendance policy).
  • Students are expected to participate in one event during the term if taking weekly lessons (this can include a recital, jam session, open mic, etc.) As an alternative, students may provide a video showcasing progress created with the help of their instructor.
  • A NEW scholarship application must be submitted every 6 months including updated income information.
  • Applications should be submitted from the parents to the Sunburst Music Fund. We will not accept completed scholarship applications which are forwarded to us by schools. Scholarships will be paid directly to the music school on behalf of the student, and the school will provide us with a report on the student’s progress. A negative report from the school may result in termination of financial aid.
  • If a partial scholarship is awarded, the parents will be responsible for the balance unless the scholarship is declined. When the scholarship is awarded, the award email will describe what is covered, and what the parent’s share would be. The balance of tuition is due to the music school per the terms of their enrollment agreement with the student, but in general, tuition is paid monthly. (If a parent defaults or is late on their portion of the tuition payment, it is not the responsibility of New Sun Rising.)
  • The Scholarship covers one 30 minute weekly lesson plan ($135/month) per student and/or one term of a group program.
  • Only 2 students per household may have a scholarship open at one time. Limits per student: 2 six month scholarships are available with a break period of 6 months needed to re-apply.
  • Subject to funds available.
