Plymouth Art Weekender 2017 // Artists & Organisers feedback
Plymouth Art Weekender 2017 is the 3rd incarnation of what is fast becoming a landmark event in the city’s annual calendar, delivering ambitious events, exhibitions, screenings, performances and workshops, that draw live audiences in excess of 17,000.

Our aim is that Plymouth Art Weekender confidently celebrates Plymouth, its people and the visual arts, promoting the city as an exciting contemporary art destination. We hope that the Weekender platform also helps to develop local talent and ambition in the city, and gives an opportunity for artists & organisers to try something new by making it easier to reach a public audience in the city and beyond.

Plymouth Art Weekender is initiated and organised by Visual Arts Plymouth - a voluntary group of local artists, curators and producers dedicated to growing the city’s cultural profile and is an opportunity for the Plymouth’s community to get creative. During 2017 - 2018, Plymouth Art Weekender forms part of Horizon, a collaborative two year programme of visual contemporary arts, funded through Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence fund and supported by Plymouth Culture.

This questionnaire should take about 10 -15 minutes to complete.

Your answer
We know that it can be really tricky to clearly define career stages for arts organisers & practitioners. We struggle with this all the time. Here are our best attempts:

Early Career - you are a recent graduate, or are beginning to initiate projects or show or curate work in a professional context; you may have shown your work or initiated projects in a number of small-scale exhibitions and events

Mid Career - you have a track record of developing projects, curating or showing work in a professional context; you might be making (or have made) successful applications for funding (or other modes of fundraising) to achieve professional projects; you may have initiated your own (or work for an existing) arts organisation; you are likely to have had your work / curatorial practice recognised by arts professionals & practitioners through a range of awards, bursaries, residencies or similar

Established - you are regularly initiating, developing or curating projects or showing work by invitation through professionally recognised organisations; you probably manage or initiate large-scale commissioned projects; you have developed a national or international professional profile
