About the course
This course is designed to prepare a BCBA to run a private practice specializing in effective direct care therapy at low dosages.  There is a population of children who benefit from ABA therapy but not in a tiered model, and not for multiple hours per week; these are children who are able to make progress week-to-week when sessions are goal directed, child oriented and based in skill acquisition and practice.  I have been running this as a business model for several years, and want to focus on training others to be competent in this area, and treat more clients with similar needs.  I have observed that this is a gap in treatment: many children I work with see OTs, MSWs, psychologists etc. with limited progress.  Behavior analysts are in a unique position to treat and support children who struggle with executive functioning and emotional regulation which can be caused by ADHD, anxiety, stress or other reasons.

JUNE 27, 2024 - Week 1: Business development - this week will focus on establishing a business structure and resources needed to run an ethical business.
JULY 11, 2024  - Week 2: Practice model - this week will focus on marketing, networking, and how to establish a practice model and community.
JULY 25, 2024  - Week 3: Understanding non-autism diagnoses - we will go into best practices with non-autism diagnoses, learning profiles, and other comorbidities you may observe/come across.
AUGUST 1, 2024 - Week 4: Assessment and goal development - in this session, we will focus on how to assess children receiving low dosages of therapy, and how to set appropriate goals.  We will go through domains for treatment and how to prioritize what to work on in short amounts of time.
AUGUST 15, 2024 - Week 5: Ongoing session structure and data collection - this week will highlight data collection session-to-session as well as how to plan out your sessions.  We will go through recommended materials, balancing fun with work, and how to effectively establish a rapport with your clients for long-term success
AUGUST 22, 2024 - Week 6: Stakeholder collaboration - While we will touch on stakeholder collaboration, particularly caregivers, throughout the sessions, this session will be dedicated to developing skills towards improved collaboration.  We will go over balancing parent support with prioritizing your client's needs.  We will also talk about how to collaborate with schools and other therapists to promote progress across all settings.

All sessions take place on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 pm EDT.  They will be live and customized to the group enrolled.  For those unable to make it live, there will be recordings available as well.
It is highly recommended that participants sign up for both the intensive 6 session course and the 10-month mentorship in order to ensure competence in this area.   The mentorship will consist of regular emails, bimonthly 1:1 sessions, and monthly group supervision sessions.
