The Mount St. Helens Summer Field Ecology program gives students who previously participated in the Mount St. Helens research experience an opportunity to work for 1 week on the volcano side-by-side researchers. We will be hiking everyday in hot exposed sunny areas. We will work in small student teams alongside professional research teams on various aspects of Mount St. Helens ecology - plants, small mammals, amphibians, water quality. We will work with writers to create our own creative writing pieces inspired by the change at Mount St. Helens. We will live and work as team based out of the the Mount St. Helens Institute's field camp. And of course we will have a great deal of fun exploring trails, lakes, rivers and the night sky.
