Research "Speed-Dating" | Wedn., Feb. 27, 5pm
The UT Science Communication Interest Group, Thinking in Public, the UT Department of History, and the UT Center for Health Communication will co-host a "Speed-Dating" event.
***THE EVENT DATE HAS BEEN SET FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH.***
The event has a “speed-dating” format, with Researchers—be they faculty, graduate students, post-docs, or undergraduates—and Interviewers.
Attendees will switch between Researcher and Interviewer roles throughout the event. As a Researcher, you will have repeated opportunities to practice distilling your research into a brief story. As an Interviewer, you will offer feedback on other Researchers' stories—what you did and didn’t understand, communication tips for improvement—which they can immediately incorporate for their next try with another Interviewer. Researchers will leave the event having honed a short explanation of their research that is accessible to laypersons.
