Drawing from the art of intentional giving and the ancient techniques of origata and orisue, we will create an orisue-inspired book. All materials will be provided. All you need to bring is yourself and the joy of learning something new and let go in the process.
I will also offer a short introduction to the history of orikata, origata, and orisue, and how these practices eventually evolved into what we now know as origami. I will share my own experience with the practice, including why it resonates so deeply with my neurodivergent way of thinking. If time allows, we will explore additional creative wrapping ideas, as well as ways to reuse materials and everyday objects. You will leave with clear instructions to continue exploring orisue in your own time.
Why this carries meaning
Origata and orisue are not only techniques, but gestures. Each fold carries attention, restraint, and respect for both material and recipient. By making something with our hands, slowly and deliberately, we reconnect with giving as an act of presence rather than performance.
