Project-Based Learning (PBL) Summer 2019 Workshop and Training
The Office of Faculty Professional Development will be sponsoring an interdisciplinary two-day workshop/training and invites NCCU faculty members interested in blending Project-Based and Experiential Learning in their courses to attend. The targeted audience for this professional development activity include faculty from Mathematics, STEM, Nursing, Business, Education, and Kinesiology and Recreation Administration; disciplines in which students are required to take Math 1100. Aligned with the NCCU Strategic Plan 2019-2024 and the Academic Affairs Strategic Plan 2016-2021, this leading edge interdisciplinary and collaborative initiative will cultivate a climate for intellectual discourse and teaching and learning innovations using high impact practices. Project/Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered and dynamic teaching method in which students acquire deeper knowledge through active learning, inquiry learning and exploration of real world challenges and problems. Working on projects or solving real world problems allow students to apply knowledge, take initiative and responsibility, build confidence, work in teams, communicate ideas, and become self-regulated learners.
