Hello students! Do you want to make tasty treats and enjoy them with your friends? Join the Cooking Club! This will be our first meeting, and we want to welcome anyone from experienced cooks to rookie chefs to come and bake with us. This meeting will occur on Saturday, February 6, 2021, 2:00pm - 4:00pm. It is the students responsibility to provide the supplies to make this dessert. A list of ingredients as well as a recipe will be provided.

INGREDIENTS

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa (any cocoa powder or processed cocoa)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks), softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar packed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups (a 12-oz package) of your favorite chocolate chips (I will be using white chocolate chips)
1 cup nuts chopped (optional)

DIRECTIONS
1. Heat oven to 375°F.

2. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl on medium speed of mixer until creamy. Add eggs; beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in chocolate chips. Add nuts, if desired. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
