RubyConf is launching Ruby Runway, our first global pitch competition for startups built with Ruby and currently raising under $500K. This program will spotlight innovative Ruby-powered ventures from around the world, with the finals taking place in-person at RubyConf 2026 in Las Vegas.
We’re inviting community members to volunteer as Reviewers or Judges to help support a fair and engaging competition experience. These roles are fully volunteer-based and play an important part in our selection process.
--Volunteer Roles--
Reviewer (Application Screener)
Reviewers evaluate written startup applications using criteria we provide. You will help determine whether applicants meet requirements and whether their startup appears viable.
Estimated workload: approximately 15–30 applications (varies based on total submissions and number of volunteers).
Judge (Semifinals or Finals)
Judges participate in live pitch rounds—either virtual semifinals or the in-person finals at RubyConf 2026. Judges score pitches, provide feedback, and help determine which founders advance.
Estimated workload: up to 3 hours. Finalist Judges must be available to judge in person at RubyConf.
