COVID Safe Campus wants to know which colleges and universities have implemented policies that restrict masks and other face coverings.
Who we are: COVID Safe Campus is a nationwide group of disabled academics and advocates with public health and policy expertise, challenging ableism and fighting for COVID safety in higher education and beyond.
We've been tracking campus mask policies since 2022 from the start of the mass wave of bans on requiring masks in classrooms. In 2024, governments and institutions pushed forward an onslaught of mask bans and other restrictive mask policies.
In this form, we're looking for information on which schools enacted such policies and what those policies are.
Our plans: Compile information on the campus mask policy landscape from 2024-2025
What kind of information we are looking for: school, type of policy and where it applies, link to policy and/or news source about policy. If the policy you are reporting is not publicly available (for example, sent in an email to the campus community), you may choose to send us a screenshot of the full text of the policy at our email address: eiryn@covidsafecampus.org
Data privacy: This form is anonymous and only members of the COVID Safe Campus Mask Ban Project team and our collaborators at Fight for the Future will have access to individual responses. Please do not include any personally identifying information in your response.
Relevant limitations: We cannot advocate on anyone's behalf. We cannot offer legal advice. We do not have the capacity to respond to personal inquiries at this time.
Restrictive mask policies and mask bans include but are not limited to: required to remove mask at the request of campus security or any other authority, required to remove mask to enter a building or dorm, masks prohibited at events (e.g. convocation), masks prohibited at protests, masks prohibited in any context, etc.
