Skeena Diversity Volunteer Tutors For English Info.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer tutor with Skeena Diversity Society.
Becoming a volunteer is very rewarding. Being a Volunteer Tutor, can give a volunteer the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life!  You will be contributing to your community in a meaningful way, learning about other cultures, while gaining new insights into your own culture.  We have consistently found that new friendships develop that may not be have been available to you through other situations.  It is an experience like no other.

Tutoring sessions might include:  informal conversations, games, virtual outings and sharing of social events. It's really up to the tutor and learner to decide what kinds of activities work best. The important thing is to work with your student with what they need and want. Tutors use communication skills to introduce learners to community resources, including Skeena Diversity’s programs and services, tutors provide a listening ear when students are sharing their life challenges or successes. As a tutor, you are assisting in the student’s integration to their new life in Canada and expanding their connection beyond those who speak their own language. You are opening doors to their active participation in Canadian life and society. Tutors usually meet with their students at least once a week.
Skeena Diversity commits to providing ongoing support. We are here to support any issues which may arise – immigration questions, employment-related issues, hobbies and interests, filing of taxes, and much more.
