I want to be a Seed Saver!
Help Raíces Cultural Center grow our regional seed library. Why save seeds? Well, because it's a part of DIY gardening where you don't have to rely on purchasing all (or any!) of your seeds from a seed company every year, it builds a local, resilient and biodiverse seed stock adapted to our growing conditions and it supports a program that provides organic and non-GMO seeds to anyone in the community who is willing to participate in seed saving.
We are looking for local gardeners who are interested in joining forces to help us plant, harvest and save seeds. We have received donations of organic, non-GMO and local saved seeds from High Mowing Organic Seeds and the Hudson Valley Seed Library and now we need your help to get all the seeds planted and growing. If you join the Raíces EcoCulture Seed Saver group, you would set aside a small portion of your crop to use for saved seeds, harvest it and submit it back to Raíces EcoCulture at the end of the growing season for that plant, helping to build our starting seed stock for our seed saving group and our forthcoming regional Seed Library! If you are just beginning and need instructions and resources, we can help guide you. Please fill out this brief form to register as a member of our seed saving group and help us stay in contact with you and get you the seed and information you might need.
*all donations for membership fees and additional contributions are tax-deductible and will be collected before or upon distribution of seeds for the season.
