With this project we will be reaching out across Montana through in person and online focus groups held in spring 2022 to listen to ranchers, farmers and other stakeholders on the topic of soil health. How do folks think about soil health on their operations? What are their interests and concerns? What are the various efforts and organizations dealing with soil that folks already participate in and how well coordinated are they? Is there anything more that can be done in order to increase the pace and scale at which land stewards implement voluntary practices and systems to maintain and improve soil health? We will spend the fall of 2021 spreading the word about this effort and how to participate. In August of 2022, we will produce and widely share a report on our findings along with a set of recommendations that will be useful to producers, researchers and all those interested in Montana soil health.
