Food Book Fair New York 2019
Food Book Fair is back!

For our 2019 New York edition, we're leaning all the way into our signature, fan favorite event — the magazine festival within the fair, previously known as Foodieodicals — with a weekend-long pop up in partnership with Smorgasburg + the Brooklyn Flea. It all goes down Saturday March 2nd - Sunday March 3rd at Atlantic Center (625 Atlantic Ave., between Gap and Party City, across from Barclays Center).

We're keeping it simple: The "fair" part of what we do is now called, simply, Food Book Fair.

And we'd love for you to join us. The Fair is a great opportunity to showcase and sell your food magazine, journal, periodical or zine, meet readers and like-minded food lovers, and network with other publications. Plus, the collaboration with Smorg and the Flea — founders of the largest weekly open-air food market in America (and seasonal indoor ones like this one) — presents new ways to connect with food and drink lovers who are hungry for more.

Our magazine expo is the true heart of Food Book Fair — and what our event attendees and participants return for again and again.

We will provide the following:

- A 6-foot table with two chairs
- A link to your publication on our website
- An opportunity to sell your latest publication, back issues, and any related swag.

WHAT IS FOOD BOOK FAIR?

Food Book Fair launched in 2012 as an event series exploring the intersections of food systems and food culture, inspired by food media: cookbooks, of course, but also magazines, film, radio, TV. Our fair draws independent publications, their creators and their fans from all over the globe.

Guided by co-directors Amanda Dell and Kimberly Chou Tsun An, it's grown to include talks, screenings and workshops in New York and Los Angeles; a podcast, Recommended Reading on Heritage Radio Network; book signings at Union Square Greenmarket; plus collaborations with Ace Hotel, Riverhead Books and more.

For the 2019 New York edition, there are additional satellite events to be announced.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Any independent food magazine can apply. Space is limited and applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. You'll hear from us within two weeks of your submission.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Bring your latest issues, back issues, swag — we welcome it all (within reason)!

In regards to how many copies to bring, we advise folks case by case. We anticipate thousands of attendees over the course of the weekend; many will be coming expressly to browse and buy at the Fair. Please keep in mind that you will be required to take home any unsold merchandise.

WHAT'S THE TIMING? AND WHAT ABOUT LOAD IN?

Smorgasburg and the Brooklyn Flea open for business at 11 AM.

Vendors can load in beginning 8 AM on Saturday and at 9 AM on Sunday, in advance of the 11 AM start time. Already in town or available early? We suggest the Friday load-in option: Food Book Fair and Smorgasburg staff are available 9 AM-3 PM for load in Friday.

IS THERE STORAGE?

There is no storage for vendors, and vendors are encouraged to leave valuables at home. Folks tabling Saturday and Sunday are welcome to leave things on/under their tables (the space is locked overnight). We do have a coat check, for coats only.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?

There is vendor WiFi, plus bathrooms, heating, a coffee bar, two bars for alcoholic (and non alcoholic) sips, security during the day, and ATMS all on site. We are sited amongst dozens of food, drink and vintage vendors — extra impetus to bring a tabling buddy, so you can maximize browsing and snacking during breaks!
