We are carving out some time to carve into stone, I am not an expert on this process but it’s something i love and i want to share with whoever is curious. But mostly it’s about working on something together, alongside eachother, coming and going, sticking around, playing with it, trying it out. It feels so definite to carve into stone, not something i’m always comfortable with, but there’s always valuable in time spent together; this process becomes an archive of this time spent alongside each other, in this process of mutual learning. Marks are made on the surface of the stone, lines that gesture towards a moment spent, not linear but overlapping, interwinding, creating a drawing together that doesn’t have to be perfect, or productive or go as intended.
Over these three hours, we welcome you to come and go as you please, only one person can work on the stone at any moment, it’s a slow process, it takes time. I’ll show you the technique, you’ll give it a go, find your rhythm. The next person will take over. In the meantime you can spend time in the garden, draw, read, rest. The stone will gather marks of all the curious hands, and the conversations that went along with them.
