INVITATION AND REGISTER FORM -      Letters from the Cuban civil society
The strength, security and international recognition of the Cuban independent civil society will be a key factor for a successful transition to democracy in Cuba. In line with this, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on Cuba on November 28 2019, which calls on the EEAS and the Commission to actively support civil society groups and individuals defending human rights in Cuba and calls on the new VP/HR to report back the EP on the actions undertaken by the EU Delegation.

Renew Europe MEP José Ramón Bauzá and NGO Civil Rights Defenders, have invited eight leading Cuban civil society activists to present policies and actions the EU can undertake to support the civil society in the island, and promote democracy and respect for human rights within the framework of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement, (PDCA) with Cuba.

Cuban policy proposals have been developed in 2019 in the project “Letters from Cuba to the EU”, organized by Civil Rights Defenders. 30 Cuban organisations and individuals have shared policy proposals, analysis and opinions about the EU cooperation with the Cuban government.
