G28 Public Health Conference: "Healthy food for all?" Friday 10th May: 2pm - 4.15pm

Our G28 cohort of  students have been studying the expedition You give me fever, which has the guiding question 'How can we continue to make progress in public health?’ Their presentation of learning for this expedition is taking the form of a conference with experts including politicians and scientists as part of an expert panel.

This year's conference is focussed on Gateshead's health inequalities with regard to diet. Its tag line is Healthy food for all?”. We intend this to encompass both food guidance and food policy.

The Health foundation defines a healthy person as 'not someone free from disease but as someone with the opportunity for meaningful work, secure housing, stable relationships, high self-esteem and healthy habits.'

Yet we know a healthy diet is not available to all where one in four households in the North East of England are food insecure, the highest in the UK. This conference aims to address this inequality.

The conference will be student-led, but there will be many opportunities for you to use your voice on this issue through the afternoon. It is for this reason that we would like you to extend this invite to your wider family so that we can hear the opinions of as many people as possible.

We would appreciate it if you could confirm, by completing this short Google Form, who will be attending from your family. You can complete the form more than once if additional family members are able to confirm their attendance at a later date.
