This form is to ensure that returning families and new to OASIS families are well informed of OASIS policies.

I understand that OASIS is an alternative school in the public school system that provides distance learning.  OASIS K-8 is a parent partnership.  Our certificated teachers act as consultant teachers working with the parents.

 I understand that OASIS is not affiliated with the K-12 online school. OASIS is not an all online school.
*OASIS high school students do have access to online courses.

I understand that a parent or guardian needs to be present during instructional hours for K-8 students

I understand that K-8 students must be enrolled full time in OASIS. If special circumstances dictate, a Kindergarten through 8th grader may be considered for .8 FTE when enrolling in one core subject area, or PE/Health and/or fine arts in another public school.

I understand that I must provide adequate and appropriate work samples and other information to my student's OASIS teacher to help complete monthly reports.

I understand that my student cannot report on faith-based curriculum or materials and that core curriculum must be chosen and used from our school board approved list.

I understand that I need to provide my student with appropriate technology and reliable internet access for weekly check-ins and online programs, if used.

 *

I understand that weekly check-ins between the OASIS teacher and student are a mandatory requirement that serves as attendance for state reporting.

I understand that coop hours may be counted and reported on weekly/monthly, only if OASIS curriculum is being used during that time.

I understand that in order for new materials to be sent out in the Fall,  my current library materials must be returned or renewed by the end of June. *

Specifically for OASIS High School Students:

I understand that this program is student-led. Weekly conversations between the student and teacher make the primary contact the student. If the student takes several online courses, they could be quite independent.

I understand that high school students usually take 6 semester courses at a time which typically take 5-6 hours a week per class.

I understand that high school curriculum needs to meet OSPI's high school standards and course codes if they are not online courses.

Specifically for OASIS High School Students:

I understand that OASIS does allow for shared enrollment for high school students with their resident school district, but students need to be enrolled in OASIS at at least .6 FTE which would be 3 academic core courses.
