<div>hackathon is the only youth and diversity-focused annual hackathon where Millennials of Color draft, develop, and pitch a workable mobile app for the chance to win a grand prize. <div>hackathon is 100% organized and 100% operated by students of Huston-Tillotson University. <div>hackathon’s mission is to assist Millennials of Color in recognizing that they can be more than consumers of technology—they too can be creators, innovators, and disrupters of today’s technology.
This past year 100 millennials of color, representing high school and college students spent the first weekend of SXSW, paired with mentors to develop mobile apps that solved problems in the education, health, and social justice sectors. This year, selected students will develop an app that solves problems in the business, education, entertainment, health and fitness industries, and now STEM. Students are supported by a team of talented professionals and industry leaders and at the end of the program, are given the opportunity to pitch their app proposals to a panel of experts.
We believe you are the pipeline. Be empowered, get engaged and elevate your experience at the 2018 <div> hackathon. Coding experience is preferred for <div> hackathon.
