<div> hackathon is the only youth and diversity-focused annual hackathon, 100% organized and operated by students of color, in the United States. The <div> hackathon is supported by MVMT50, powered by Huston-Tillotson University and hosted on their East Austin campus. The focus of the two day (March 11 + 12) hackathon is to educate, engage and empower millennials of color to become creators, innovators, and disruptors of tomorrow’s technology.
In the program's inaugural year 50 millennials of color, representing high school to college students spent the first weekend of SXSW, paired with mentors to develop mobile apps that solved problems in the education, health, and social justice sectors. This year, selected students will develop an app that solves a problems in the business, education, entertainment, or health and fitness industries. Students are supported by a team of talented professionals and industry leaders and at the end of the program, are given the opportunity to pitch their app proposals to a panel of experts.
We believe you are the pipeline. Be empowered, get engaged and elevate your experience at the 2017 <div> hackathon.
<div> hackathon is open to 9th -12th graders and current college students.
