18 SQN has been invited to staff the NASA’s SOFIA ( Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy) public open day. The attending Cadets will be given a private tour of the aircraft. NASA’s flying telescope mounted in a converted 747. It is a unique plane and one of the few chances to see a scientific aircraft. Places will be allocated to Cadets on a first in first served basis. For the visit cadets will be in uniform. You must have your NZCF 23 (3822) and Drivers Licence, if you have one, with you.
Bring a camera with a flash
All adults must present valid ID
Everyone is subject to search.
All guests must be able to walk.
No guests under 10 years of age
No bags, no backpacks, no open-toed shoes, no skirts unless part of a uniform
Pockets as empty as possible. If anything is dropped it must be picked up.
On the tour guests must stay together and walk as a group
