During ACT 2023: On Location in Portland, we will be offering a limited amount of space for Affinity Groups and other interest groups to meet.  We have a protected time slot in the schedule for this—4:15-4:45 on Friday, October 6th, which fits after the keynote and before the poster session. We can support between 6 and 10 groups via meeting space (and in some cases, projectors/screens).

Also, please note that STP Affinity Groups will receive priority consideration for space.  That being said, we don't expect that all affinity groups will request space here, so if you have a group in mind, please apply! We hope to accept groups that:
  1. provide a space of belonging for those with sociodemographic identities that have been/continue to be marginalized in STP and/or academia AND/OR
  2. meet the needs of large subgroups of ACT attendees (i.e., that aren't too niche)
In short, we want many attendees to find a group to attend, but we won't make decisions that further marginalize already marginalized groups. Also, note that each group needs a minimum of two group contacts to be considered, so you'll need to find someone to work with if you'd like to propose a group. The STP Listserv is a good place to inquire about this if no one comes to mind.

If you'd like to apply for consideration for use of one of these spaces, fill out the form below by September 15th.

Do you anticipate your group will need the use of a projector and screen? *
Some groups may be asked to share sections of a large room (e.g., dividing our huge ballroom into quadrants so we can support more groups).

Given the nature of some of the groups (e.g., some group members may not be "out" as group members), a private room may be needed.

For this group, which is most accurate?

(Note that this has no bearing on acceptance—it just helps us place groups into rooms).

Is there any other information you'd like to provide about your group to help us evaluate it for inclusion?
