RA Application for Chris
Note: I am not currently hiring new RAs, I just don't have enough work for any more people
Thanks or your interest! I am generally interested in abstract, metaphorical thinking, and how it appears in every part of our lives. So far, the bulk of my research has been focused on metaphor in games, how a game can encourage you to think about an abstract concept in different ways (e.g. policy solutions to reduce crime).
Now that I work in the Storm lab, my dissertation work has moved towards the different metaphors we use to understand memory, and how priming one of those metaphors can change how your memory works (e.g. if I tell you to think of memory as a muscle will you benefit more from studying?).
I'm currently juggling both the memory and game related work, but pretty much everything I do has some connection to metaphor or to to role of the body in thinking.

Do you have any research-related skills that you would like to tell me about? (e.g. programming languages and how familiar you are with them)
Why are you interested in joining the lab? What do you hope to get from the experience?
Which upcoming quarters (over the next 12 months) would you like to work in the lab? (check all that apply) (it is possible to work in the lab for more than a year, but I can only do so many checkboxes)
If accepted, would you like to volunteer or receive course credit in 194b?
Do you plan to eventually apply to graduate school? If yes, for what degree (e.g., Ph.D., Psy.D., Masters) and to what type of program (e.g., clinical, social, cognitive)?
