Judging Process Highlights

Volunteers may participate as School-Level Judges, State-Level Judges, or both. All judging is completed online using Award Force.

School-Level Judging

Process
Attend a Kick-Off Training, activate/create an Award Force account, independently read and score assigned essays, submit all scores at least 24 hours before the team meeting, and  participate in a virtual team discussion.
Judging Window - Mid-February to early March
Assignment - 30–48 essays (per team)
Estimated Time Commitment - Approximately 5–7 hours
Winners Announced - March 26, 2026

State-Level Judging

Process
Attend a Kick-Off Training, activate/create an Award Force account, independently read and rank assigned essays using a blind review process, and submit rankings by deadline.
Judging Window - March 26–29
Assignment - 15–18 essays
Estimated Time - Approximately 3-4 hours
