Event Overview
Resilience and Connection: Artistic explorations of
mental health is a community art showcase, brought to you by CMHA Hamilton, the
McMaster Community Research Platform, Centre [3], the McMaster Student Wellness
Centre, the McMaster Museum of Art, and the Advanced Research on Mental Health
and Society (ARMS) initiative.
Hamilton, ON residents are invited to submit artistic work in the form of paintings, collage, photography, digital illustrations, or poetry, that reflect your personal mental wellness journeys, based on one of the themes listed below. Selected artwork will be showcased alongside student artistic works during CMHA Hamilton's Mental Health Week in May 2023.
This exhibit aims to initiate discussions on mental health challenges and act as a powerful physical representation of an artist-centred self-discovery process. The goal is to reduce stigma associated with mental health issues and provide a channel where artists, photographers and poets feel comfortable sharing personal struggles, which is an important first step towards improving mental wellness.
