Please join us for an online video discussion of The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison
"The Bluest Eye" is the searing first novel from Toni Morrison, the celebrated author of "Beloved." It immerses us in the tragic, torn lives of a poor black family in post-Depression 1940s Ohio and the tragedy that results from the daughter's longing to be accepted.
When asked about her motivations for writing "The Bluest Eye" in an interview, Morrison claimed that she wanted to remind readers "how hurtful racism is" and that people are "apologetic about the fact that their skin [is] so dark."
The book's controversial topics of racism, incest, and child molestation have led to numerous attempts to ban the novel from schools and libraries.
Please register below. You will receive a Zoom invitation to join the discussion the day of the scheduled event.
