DDVA Educator Scholarship Application
On October 15th, Decoding Dyslexia Virginia will host its 3rd Annual DDVA 5K Run for Dyslexia and 1 Mile Fun Run.  This year’s proceeds will directly provide funding for educator scholarships to further their knowledge base around multisensory structured language instruction (MSLI).  The number of scholarships we hope to award will be based on runner participation and sponsorship commitment, so get your registrations in, consider forming teams, seek sponsorships, and tell your friends!  Register for the race here: https://runsignup.com/Race/VA/FairfaxStation/5KRunForDyslexia

Scholarship Details:
 
Applicants will submit an application to include information around their work with students who are struggling with acquiring solid reading skills at any grade level using a multi-sensory approach, or will teach foundational reading skills to students at Kindergarten through 2nd grade using a multisensory approach as Tier 1 instruction.  

Applicants will:

1) complete this DDVA Educator Scholarship Application
2) submit two (2) letters of recommendation to decodingdyslexiava@gmail.com with ‘applicant’s name’ and ‘DDVA Educator Scholarship Application’ in the subject line.
3) be a licensed Virginia school educator/provisionally licensed educator (provide licensure number)/possess equivalent credentials.
4) reside and currently teach in a Virginia school.
 
 
Scholarships will range from $100 - $1500 depending on the request, and may be awarded for a variety expenses, to include but not be limited to multi-sensory classroom materials, OG classroom educator/associate course or certification, ASDEC training, Wilson training, Barton reading program/training, IDA certification registration/testing fees.  Applicants should be specific in their personal statement of the implementation expectations from the training to be engaged in, or how the multisensory materials may be used within the classrooms, using examples for explanation.  Those applying should also indicate their current classroom experience and the impact that will be experienced from the scholarship award.
 
Awarded scholarships will be paid directly to the vendor for the requested expenditures.  Application deadline is September 30th, 2017.  Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the 5K on October 15th.  (applicants not in attendance will receive an email following the race on October 15th)
