The
Strawbridge UMC Disaster Response Team (DRT), led by
Mark Taylor, recognizes that we are often left without the support of modern technology and communication tools for extended periods of time in the aftermath of a local storm or disaster.
With this in mind, the DRT would like to create hands-on Disaster Assistance Connection Lists that will allow us to personally check-in on one another in the immediate aftermath of a major event such as a hurricane, tornado, flood, etc. The primary goal is to create lists of people living within close geographic ranges of each other (by subdivision, by village, by zip code, etc.) and ensure this contact information is shared and maintained by representative volunteer Block Captains.
The form below will allow you to "opt-into" participating as someone that would simply like to be checked on after a local disaster. And the final question allows you to let us know if you would like to participate as a "Block Captain". Selecting "yes" there does not automatically mean you will be a Block Captain, but it will ensure that a member of the DRT will contact you to provide further details on what being a Block Captain represents.
