Wholesalers Survey Nottinghamshire - Do you want to sell more local food?

We all want local food but it's not always easy to get hold of, or at an affordable price. However the Nottinghamshire Farmstart could be the very answer to the need for wholesalers and shops to have more locally produced food on local shelves.

This report will be making a case for investment in local food production and for Nottinghamshire to be the first UK county to offer a county-wide Farmstart training programme for people to make a rewarding livelihood as a food producer. These livelihoods are only possible with the skills, and the people to sell to.

The purpose of this survey is to reach out to local shops and wholesalers like yourselves who already purchase fruit and vegetables and value added products to see what you are buying and to see if we can work together to make more of that locally sourced from the County and its neighbours.  It will also be crucial for us to understand the size and dynamics of the local food market and therefore the potential business viability/vulnerabilities for future farmers and growers.

As an incentive for filling out the questionnaire we will be offering any entries into a prize draw for £50 towards your marketing budget.

We are also happy to share our finding from our customer, producer and other surveys, which you might find useful for your own market research and stocking necessities, and help strengthen Nottinghamshire's local food system.

Thank you so much for your involvement.

The Nottinghamshire Farmstart feasibility project is a collaboration between Nottinghamshire County Council and the Urban Agriculture Consortium, with inspiration and guidance from the Landworkers Alliance's National Farmstart Network and other Farmstarts in the UK.
