DNI Summer Sports Term 1, 2021
Please find below the summer sports options available at DNI in Term 1. We do not have confirmed dates and details for some sports, but working from previous seasons we can provide a guide below. We need registrations by 5pm Friday February 5 and payment or part payment arrangements made by the end of February. Please contact us before this date if you need to discuss payment options. Parental support is vital for sports to run smoothly. DNI will manage all of the registration and administration, but staff do not attend games as coaches/managers - this is a parental responsibility. If you have any questions about Term 1 sport, please contact Sheree Landrebe-Potter (shereel@dni.school.nz).

Waterpolo is played at Moana Pool on Thursday nights during Term 1. Games are at any time between 3.30pm and 6pm. There are 3 grades (A, B and Novice) and DNI will look to enter a team in each if numbers allow. Players new to waterpolo are welcome, however as waterpolo is played in the diving pool, players MUST be competent swimmers. The cost per player is about $40 for the season plus a weekly pool entry fee (approximately $3).
Rippa Rugby
Rippa is played at the Edgar Centre at anytime between 3.45pm and 6pm on Monday nights. We have not yet received the information for Term 1, however in previous terms there has been a $5 one off team fee and an Edgar Centre entry fee of $2.50 to be paid each week. Exact dates and details will be passed on to interested players when this information becomes available.
We have received an offer from a DNI parent (and former representative softballer) to coach and manage a DNI softball team this year. The team would be run as part of the Cardinals Softball Club who will assist by providing gear and caps. Games are played on Saturday mornings starting between 9am and 11am and go for between 60 and 90 minutes. Practices would be held during the week at a time that suited most players. The season runs from October until before Christmas and then continues after the holidays until late March. Year 8 students who leave DNI at the end of this year will have the option to continue playing for the team until the end of the season and we'll open it to new players also in Term 1. Players will need to have a softball glove and preferably football/soccer boots as the field can be slippery. Estimated fees are $60 ($30 for a sibling). At this stage we are gauging interest and further details will be provided if a team is confirmed.
Cricket (Girls Only)
Otago Cricket may an Intermediate Girls Cricket comp. We'll take names here in case. There is no competition for boys through school, you need to join a club.
