LRCB 2020 Camper Application
Thank you so much for applying for LRCB!

In 2020, we will be holding two sessions of LRCB:

Session 1: March 6 - March 8, 2020
Session 2: April 3 - April 5, 2020

Please note: We are currently full for both sessions of LRCB 2020. If you choose to complete the application, your application has been placed on a waiting list for your top three choices.

We hope you are ready to have a rockin' weekend while helping us raise money for our Girls Rock Campaign Boston Summer Sessions! Please read the important information below before continuing onto our LRCB application! We are looking forward to cultivating a supportive community of peers and mentors that will help motivate social change in our community!
LRCB is an intensive 3-day-weekend program for women, transgender and gender non-conforming adults, 21 and older! There is absolutely no experience necessary to participate and all instruments and equipment will be provided. Over the three days, you will learn how to play an instrument and write an original song that you will perform live with your band! In addition, you will have the opportunity to attend a variety of music, confidence building, and social justice focused workshops. Find your inner rock god/goddess by fighting the status quo, becoming part of a band of revolutionaries and supporting GRCB’s year round youth programming!!

All proceeds from LRCB go directly to helping Girls Rock Campaign Boston (GRCB) continue to provide scholarships for all families who need assistance.
LRCB is for any woman, trans or gender non-conforming adult age 21 and over, who wants to rock out while supporting GRCB! There is absolutely no musical experience necessary and we will provide all instruments for all who attend. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that supports and welcomes a wide range of marginalized gender identities and expressions. We welcome women, transgender and gender non-conforming participants. GRCB/LRCB supports the liberation of people who experience gender based oppression. If you feel like this space is for you, it likely is.
NEW THIS YEAR - In order to ensure and expand the impact of our mission of bringing the power of collaboration, self-expression and community building to all women, transgender and gender non-conforming adults, GRCB will be reviewing applications to foster fairness and diversity instead of accepting applications on a first come first serve basis. Our applications will be open from November 1st to November 15th.

After the 15th, we will begin to review all applications received to prioritize inclusivity and create an intentional community! We will still honor our waiting list priority for folks who were waitlisted during the 2019 LRCB season.

Once your application has been submitted, we will send an email confirming that we have received your application. We will notify everyone of their application status (accepted or waitlisted) for LRCB 2020, via email, no later than December 1st.

We regularly receive more applications than we have spots, so we are not able to accept everyone who applies. Those who were not accepted at first will be placed on a waiting list. If you are put on the waitlist, please consider joining us as a volunteer for the LRCB long weekend or getting involved with one of our year round programs and teams.
Tuition for LRCB will be on a sliding scale ($200 - $750) based on how much you are able to contribute to Girls Rock Campaign Boston. There is a $20, non-refundable, application fee. Directions on how to pay will be included once you submit your application.

A sliding scale is a tool to ensure folks have equal access to experiences like LRCB, regardless of financial resources. We ask for your active participation in deciding your contribution. If a sliding scale is implemented effectively, everyone pays a similar percentage of their income for tuition. This way, the cost of LRCB is not pocket change for some folks and a big commitment for other folks. While GRCB is a small organization, and your LRCB tuition contributes essential funds to support our youth programming, we make sliding scale a priority because we acknowledge that we live in a world of differing privileges and income disparities. (Shout out to Girls Rock Philly ( for developing thoughtful and descriptive language around the the benefits of sliding scale tuition model #thanksgrca)

Payment plans are available and information on payment plans will be distributed if you are accepted into LRCB's 2020 sessions. We are able to offer need-based financial assistance to a limited number of participants. Please complete the financial aid section within the application and we will follow up with you to confirm whether we can provide any assistance. Additionally, if the application fee is a financial burden for you, please skip that step.
Space is limited to 50 participants per session. We offer five different instrument groups (Guitar, Bass, Keys, Vocals and Drums) and divide participants evenly between the five instrument groups to form 10 bands each session.
Due to an overwhelmingly positive response to our programming, and commitment to accommodate new participants, this year we will be offering a priority period to those who were wait-listed for 2019 programming. If you applied in 2019 but were wait-listed due to lack of space, you will be given priority for the 2020 sessions if we receive your completed application by November 15th. Please be sure to indicate this status in you application.
Where are LRCB sessions held?
LRCB will be taking over Spontaneous Celebrations at 45 Danforth St. Jamaica Plain, MA 02130! Spontaneous Celebrations is a community center with a mission to create and sustain a community cultural life that unites and empowers people for positive change through the arts. There are three floors in the building and the two main floors we use for LRCB programming are wheelchair accessible. If you have concerns about accessibility, please do not hesitate to contact
