The IIA Annual Insurtech Awards are being organised with the intent to recognise member firms for driving high standards of performance across product ideas, service excellence, and advancement of InsurTech and create an environment of innovation, reward, and recognition within the IIA community and the industry.

The submissions are open in the following categories:

1. InsurTech of the Year

Recognises the most well-rounded InsurTech firm delivering innovation across the entire insurance value chain. This flagship category is for firms showing consistent excellence in product development, technology adoption, customer experience, partnerships, and overall market impact.

2. AI Innovation in Insurance (Overall)

Awarded for the strongest end-to-end use of AI or GenAI within the insurance process. This is for insurers or InsurTechs that have embedded AI at the core of their operations — underwriting, claims management, fraud detection, pricing models, risk assessment, and customer interaction. It rewards initiatives where AI has clearly transformed efficiency, accuracy, or customer outcomes across major functions.

3. AI Innovation in Distribution

Dedicated to AI solutions reshaping how insurance products are marketed, distributed, and sold. This category highlights AI-powered lead generation, personalised recommendations, predictive agent support, automated chat-based journeys (e.g., WhatsApp), embedded insurance, and rural-first outreach. It recognises firms using AI to break new ground in customer acquisition and channel development.

4. AI Innovation in Insurance Services

For companies outside core insurance (tech firms, SaaS providers, ecosystem enablers) that supply AI-driven solutions to insurers. This includes data analytics platforms, automated claims engines, fraud detection systems, compliance/regulatory automation, and AI-powered customer service tools. It celebrates firms enabling insurers to modernise and innovate through AI services, even if they are not selling insurance directly.

5. Tech for Bharat: Inclusive Insurance Award

For solutions designed to bring insurance to underserved, rural, or low-income communities in India. This award looks for models that leverage Digital Public Infrastructure — Aadhaar, UPI, ABHA, ONDC, Account Aggregators — to expand reach and affordability. The focus is on inclusion: products that make insurance accessible, relevant, and affordable for Bharat, beyond Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets.

6. Rising Star: Emerging InsurTech of the Year

Spotlights startups up to or less than two years old demonstrating high potential and innovation. This category celebrates young companies with disruptive models, early signs of scalability, investor or customer traction, and a clear vision to transform insurance.

7. Global InsurTech of the Year

Recognises an international InsurTech firm that has delivered breakthrough innovations with global impact. This award celebrates companies operating beyond their home markets, influencing insurance ecosystems across borders, and setting worldwide benchmarks. It could include firms pioneering global AI adoption, introducing new cross-country distribution models, or redefining risk/claims management at scale.
