Compost Colorado (CoCo) is an employee-owned Public Benefit Company (PBC).  We have distributed over 100 cubic yards of compost-soil in 80216 to support soil restoration efforts; testified several times at the Colorado Capitol Building to pass composting legislation; and are currently underway building our own compost processing facility - the first of its kind in Denver! We are a scrappy, community focused organization that needs supportive, conscientious  partners in order to continue our mission!

Founded in 2018, CoCo collects compost, “completes the loop”, and connects everyone to an accessible gateway towards a more sustainable and regenerative future. We aim to make composting mainstream and in the process support local, sustainable businesses and causes. We strive to make composting as easy, affordable, and available as possible—composting should be accessible and inclusive to all people.
How is our service different?

Fresh Bins! CoCo swaps your totes with washed totes upon pickup! As your custodians, we strive to keep composting as clean and pest-free as possible. By swapping your totes we mitigate any odors or flies associated with your waste.

Contamination: We truly care about the quality of the compost we create and want to ensure it is usable soil that can be returned to the earth. This means we heavily focus on minimizing contamination through:
  • Transparency: Opposed to dump trucks, we use bins and buckets. This strategic decision allows us to see more of the compost in each bin as they are individually dumped, instead of getting buried in a dump truck black hole!
  • Manual sorting: Our compost stream is manually sorted through at multiple levels. First, drivers sort any large contaminants out as they pick up each bin. Then, as the bin is dumped into a rolloff (larger container) at our facility, the stream is checked again for large contaminants.
  • Education: We onboard each commercial account with a Compost 101 Training and offer refresher 101s as needed. 101s train employees on composting best practices and processes for minimizing contamination.
  • Signage: CoCo provides every commercial account with "What is Compostable" signage.
  • Feedback reports: As we service our commercial accounts, we take note of what the stream looks like—we let you know if we see contamination, what the contaminants were, and how to best minimize it moving forward!
  • Green Teams: In certain cases, we suggest Green Teams be implemented and offer guidance on how to do so.
Spring Soil Dividends: Free spring compost soil dividend for all employees at every commercial account! 

Employee Discounts: Discounted residential composting memberships for all commercial account employees!

Compostable Packaging: Yes! We do still accept certified compostable packaging.

Reporting: Our customer portal allows you to see a dashboard full of your real-time waste diversion statistics, easy numbers to reference as you work on building your sustainability initiatives. Metrics include: pounds diverted from landfill, seedlings planted (in greenhouse gas equivalency), miles offset, and gallons of gas offset.

Billing
Like other waste collection services, we are a monthly subscription service. Billing should be automatic and seamless!

Contamination, late payments, and disparate payment forms result in extra time, headache, and resources expended on our part. We want to be more focused on composting and spend less time chasing down accounts for late payments!

Our account portal, Stopsuite, facilitates automatic billing for cards or ACH. While we recognize that some organizations have unique accounting practices that require to pay by check or another form, we do charge a $15 processing fee to account for the extra time/resources our accounting staff spends to process and reconcile these payments.

We are a subscription service. For billing ease on all sides, will you be able to pay via automatic payments, or will you need an exception? *
