Team England: WTC 2026 Application
Welcome to the Team England 40K application process!

Please note that applications formally closed at Midnight on 12/09/2025. However, we are committed to taking the best team to WTC - an arbitrary deadline at the expense of a good potential player doesn't sit well with us! If you are reading this after the deadline, please still feel free to submit the application form, but contact the Captain - Tony C - Via Discord DM to ensure we get you caught-up in the process.

Whilst the intention is for all applications to be made during this period, the team reserves the right to invite unknown/new potential players who are eligible to play for England to get involved beyond this deadline.

Phase 1 - What is it?
Application invites you to Phase 1, the foundation of the our selection process. This phase runs from September 12th 2025 to January 12th 2026. This process has been streamlined for even greater flexibility to allow you to show off the best of your playing ability.

What do we want to see?

You should:

  • Be actively involved in the Team England Discord community.

  • Represent Team England well within the wider Warhammer community.

  • Use more than one faction during this phase to demonstrate flexibility at the highest level.

  • Complete at least three of five possible TTS tasks set by the team on Discord between September  January.  Tasks will be released periodically and can be completed against opponents of your choice from within or outside of the wider applicant group.

  • Attend real-life events, including at least one team event (see below).

  • Show your process and share with us your experiments with new ideas and approaches rather than relying only on the strongest meta lists. Winning every game is not the goal here.

  • Submit regular game write-ups, either from TTS or real-life games, using the provided template in your applicant channel on Discord, at least four a month. Attending a weekend event or similar and reflecting upon your games, or regular practise games, are both good examples.

  • Participate in at least one TTS event or practice scrim. Watch for these to go up via posts in the Community Scrims channel or DM @Matt Robertson (Community Lead) on Discord for more details.

These are the minimum requirements for consideration.

Meeting them ensures you are eligible, but it does not guarantee progression to the second phase of our selection process, the squad stage.

The process is competitive, and selectors will be looking not only at whether tasks are completed, but also at the quality of your play, your approach to teamwork, and the effort you put into supporting the squad as a whole.

Please note that not every player who takes part in Phase 1 will receive an interview at the end of this period, although all players will receive feedback in some format.

4. Code of Conduct

Team England has high standards for the way we prepare, manage and select our team for the annual World Team Championships for Warhammer 40,000.

Pride

Responsibility

Respect

Sportsmanship

These are the non-negotiable pillars upon which our team is built.

We strive to create a group for the English 40K community that is truly world class, whilst playing the game in the right way. We are asking any applicant to agree to an inherent code of conduct that reflects this in any activity around our hobby.

Applicants who are found to not be representing these aspects online or at events will be asked to step away from the process.

5. Your Role:
Team England intends to select a playing squad for 2026, with a Head Coach and three supporting coaches.

Please note that players who are not successful at stages of application may also elect to apply for a coaching position, later in the process (more details to follow).

Please select one option from those listed:
*
6. Reason For Applying:
The first big question starts here - Why are you applying for the 2026 WTC with England?
*
7. Your 40K Experience:
What is your Warhammer 40K experience and why is it relevant to a place on Team England?
*
8. Events 2025 Part 1:
Please let us know any events you are planning to attend over Phase 1 of the process:
*
9. Events 2025 Part 2:
Team England has been invited to attend the Pyra Cup, an event hosted by Team Poland. The November event takes place the same weekend as the UKTC's November ITT event - November 15th - 16th 2025.

However, this is a top quality event, with seed 1 WTC nations sending teams of hopefuls to apply and show their mettle.

At this stage, we have a place at the event following our good form in two of the three Pyra events so far in 2024 and 2025.

If you would be interested in attending, please tick the box below - this is just to gauge interest and is not a hard commitment to attend.

Pyra 2025 Cost Breakdown
Flights approx. £140 (inc luggage) Ticket inc food and accommodation ~ £170 Car hire from Berlin - Approx. £35 each between four. Add on £75 approx. for refreshments & fuel.
Total: ~£420

10. Factions:
Team England needs a range of faction specialists.
We also intend to take our applicants to as many events as possible.

Please rank your 'top' factions (in order of preference). This should be a list of armies you have available for any team events you want to join, and are willing to play for those events.

We are not asking for a commitment to be a Necron or Aeldari main - you can use whatever faction suits you best for any TTS or online event - but we do need a guide to help manage potential teams we want to test playing together.

11. Registration Payment & Events

This year there is a fee to apply for Team England (see payment instructions below).

The first event of the year is the Battle of Britain Teams, 25th - 26th October 2025 at Element Games in Stockport. The event is for 6-man teams, on WTC terrain.

However, in terms of a true WTC experience, our England 8s event takes place the following month at Prestige Wargaming in Barnsley, November 29th - 30th 2025. This event will have England selectors overseeing six, 8-man teams, playing WTC missions on WTC terrain. This is one of the best chances to show off your ability at the top level against quality opposition in your fellow applicants. For more details about the venue visit https://prestigewargaming.co.uk/

Attaining a place at both events is *unlikely*, but not impossible - we would ask you to only pay for one ticket at this time until we have gauged interest.

We do hope to announce some other events in other parts of the country imminently, so it is not essential to attend one of these two events.

Payment Instructions:
To apply for the team, please send payment through PayPal of £5.00 by friends & family to: teamengland40k@gmail.com.

Additionally, if you would like to reserve your place at one of the events, above please indicate your preference below. Tickets are £50.00, payable to the same address.

Please include your name when purchasing if it isn't clear and/or different from your name in Q1 on PayPal.

Teams for both events will be announced just over two weeks after applications close, no later than Sunday 26th September, to be shared via Discord.

If you are unable to attend an event, please email teamengland40k@gmail.com at least a week before the event and your event fee will be refunded, no questions asked.

12. TTS and England
Team England uses TTS; every top WTC nation does.

It is not the ultimate way to play the game, but the nature of 40K in the current climate is that it is an essential practise tool.

Every year, our team is formed from players from all across the country. We cannot rely on individual practise outside of our WTC sphere, where we cannot guarantee the level of challenge and consistency behind your practise games and your game-theory.

If you do not have the facility to use TTS regularly during Phase 1, but this is something that you are committed to, then we want to hear from you

Having a check box that excludes a good player isn't the goal, but we are not able to overlook this completely. If that is your situation, please do take the time in Q13 to explain your situation and how we can support your application.

13. Any other business:
Further to Q12, if you need to add more detail around your application - please add it here.

If there is any feedback you would like to offer the team as part of your application and you haven't included it above, please add it here.

If you have any links, sponsors, support or other ways in which you can/could or would like to suggest, please also take the time to include that here. If you for some reason cannot include everything here, as ever please contact us by email at teamengland40k@gmail.com
