Thank you for your interest in unCUFFED and for taking the time to complete this application. We are continually amazed and excited by how God is using our volunteers to change lives inside correctional facilities. We hope you will join the team! Although unCUFFED serves young men and woman of all religions, it is important to note that we are a Christian ministry. Your primary purpose as a volunteer will be to form relationships with those we serve so you can earn the right to speak the Truth of Jesus Christ. The most important component in building relationships is showing up regularly and predictably. Many of these kids have already been abandoned by parents and authority figures, so we don’t want to replay that scenario by introducing them to a mentor, tutor, or class leader who attends inconsistently. Of course, some life changes are impossible to anticipate but we simply ask you to pray about this commitment before you make it, and once made do your very best to abide by it. The expected time commitment is one hour per week plus the time to enter and exit the institution. We strive for consistent attendance and regular service because, again, showing up is the key to building relationships and earning their trust. If you cannot make this time commitment, please discuss this at your interview. We will do our best to work out a schedule with you.
