Description

Join us for a unique overnight adventure as we journey into the historic Donner Pass Tunnels. Carved through the Sierra Nevada mountains in the 1860s by Chinese coolies, these massive granite tunnels once sheltered the first transcontinental trains from snow. Today, they stand as awe-inspiring monuments to human grit and engineering, stretching for miles through mountain rock and offering incredible views of Donner Lake and the surrounding peaks.

We’ll explore several miles of the tunnels, experience their dramatic scale, and reflect on both the history and the beauty of the Sierras. Afterward, we’ll set up camp inside  and spend the night.  The hike is flat over easy terrain, with about a 100 yard scramble from the parking lot.  Expect cooler temperatures at night, with lows in the upper 20s possible.  Pack warmly!
