Description: Across four Saturdays in May 2026, learn how to take a poem from line to lens in this free, bilingual video poetics workshop designed and led by City of San Diego Poet Laureate Paola Capó-García and filmmaker Víctor De La Fuente. Participants will write a poem with Paola and then turn those poems into experimental short films with Víctor. The work produced throughout these workshops will eventually be exhibited in a group show at the Athenaeum Art Center in October 2026.
Eligibility: Ages 16 and up, must apply through this form, must provide your own transportation, must have your own laptop, all languages welcome but workshops will be given in English and Spanish, no prior experience needed

Saturday, May 16 - Intro to video and storyboarding with filmmaker Víctor De La Fuente (location TBD)
Saturday, May 23 - Filming and editing (location TBD)
Saturday, May 30 - Editing and critique (location TBD)
Time: 11am - 1pm (subject to change)
Deadline: Wednesday, April 15, 11:59pm (acceptance emails will go out by April 27)
Cost: Free (access to personal phones and/or cameras for recording encouraged, some video equipment will also be available for shared on-site use, editing software will be available for on-site use)
Please note: Participating in this workshop means that you consent to having your final video/s appear in a video poetics showcase at the Athenaeum Art Center from October 2026-January 2027. More information will be provided.
