Purpose:The purpose of this interview is to have a discussion about how you perform "profesh" through your dress practices. Definitions and stories will be used to help show the dynamic meaning of "profesh" as well as its connections (and disconnections) to embodied identity categories and systems of power.
Procedures:If you agree to be interviewed, you will be asked to talk with Katie over Skype (video, audio, or chat). Interviews should last no longer than one hour and will be recorded for transcription using Call Recorder or the Skype chat function.
Risks/Benefits:Every effort has been made by the researchers to eliminate the possibility of risk in this study, though some emotional discomfort may arise during discussions of discrimination and identity. There is no compensation or cost anticipated for this project.
Confidentiality:Your privacy will be protected to the maximum extent allowable by law. You will be sent the transcription of the conversation and will be able to make any changes to protect your confidentiality and to make sure you are being represented in the way that you feel most comfortable. If you were video recorded you will have the option to only be represented in text.
Voluntary Participation:Participation in this study is voluntary. If you decide to participate you are free to withdraw at any time without penalty.
