STAGESPEAK: Steps & Tips for Writing Musicals is a one-day workshop designed to give participants a working foundation and practical tools to begin their own work. 

Participants will learn about:
  • The basics of theatrical storytelling
  • Characters that drive the story
  • Musical logic, structure, and moments
  • Tips on writing — including artist's rights and career pathways
This beginner friendly workshop, for ages 18 and above, is for:
  • Writers exploring perspectives on how musicals are made
  • Creatives curious about musical theater 
  • Enthusiasts eager to understand the art form more deeply
  • Anyone interested in learning more about musicals
The workshop will be conducted in English and Filipino.

About the Mentor:

PAT VALERA  is a playwright, director, dramaturg, and producer for the stage. His recent works include the original Filipino musicals "Mula sa Buwan", "Dekada '70", and "Bar Boys: The Musical".  A two-time Palanca awardee, Pat has also received awards from Gawad Buhay Awards, Aliw Awards, and the Asian TV Awards.
