About the Initiative

"Keep The Town Clean" is a bold citywide effort led by Mayor Barbara Lee to combat illegal dumping and blight through high-impact, community-centered cleanup events in every Council District. This initiative represents our collective commitment to unifying our community and sustaining clean, safe neighborhoods throughout Oakland.

Grounded in equity and environmental justice, the program brings together City departments, youth leaders, residents, and local businesses to transform our public spaces and foster shared responsibility for Oakland's beauty and wellbeing. Together, we're working to make Oakland the cleanest and greenest city in the nation.

What We Provide:  All volunteers will receive complimentary food, beverages, and cleanup supplies.

Our Goals

  • Reduce illegal dumping near schools, parks, and youth-serving spaces
  • Encourage voluntary compliance from businesses, residents, and community organizations
  • Empower residents through hands-on neighborhood improvement projects
