Birdhouse - Assistant Teacher Application Form

WHO WE ARE:

At Birdhouse, we believe that successful child care begins with happy, fulfilled, and empowered teachers. We are reimagining early childhood education by transforming residential homes into a network of home-based child care centers. Our model combines the warmth and intimacy of home-based care with an educational approach grounded in play-based learning, Montessori, and Conscious Discipline.

We provide Assistant Teachers with the unique opportunity to work in a home-based educational child care center, where they can make a lasting impact on children, families, and the local community. With the support of our world-renown Head of Education, Chazz Lewis, you’ll have some of the best training and professional development in the country. Assistant teachers are offered competitive compensation packages, professional development, and an incredibly inspiring work environment.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • The Birdhouse Model: Birdhouse is transforming single-family homes into small child care centers, offering an intimate, home-based environment for children. Our Lead Teachers live on-site in these homes, where they provide care while living rent-free. This model allows them to fully integrate into the community and focus on creating a nurturing learning space.
  • Your Role as an Assistant Teacher: While Lead Teachers live in the home, Assistant Teachers commute to these centers to support in providing care. You will work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide care for the children.
  • A Path for Growth: Birdhouse deeply values the growth and longevity of our team. As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to potentially transition into a Lead Teacher role in the future, which comes with the benefit of free rent in a prime neighborhood!
